Yet the majority of that capital repeatedly flows to the same handful of visible, well-connected organisations, while thousands of high-potential, fast-growing, start-ups, SMEs, non-profits, and social enterprises remain entirely invisible to the investors who would fund them if only they could find them, verify them, and trust them.

Development Partners have told us directly what the data already shows: when a DFI receives a mandate to allocate capital to SMEs, the absence of credible, standardised intelligence forces allocation teams to concentrate funding in the one or two organisations they can verify, while the broader ecosystem of deserving enterprises goes unfunded.
